Tulum Excursion: Mayan Ruins Overlooking the Caribbean Sea
The Tulum excursion is one of the most popular in the Yucatán and a must-see on any trip to Mexico. This unique Mayan archaeological site overlooks the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, offering a breathtaking backdrop. The fortress of Tulum was one of the last inhabited Mayan ceremonial centers when the Spanish arrived in the 16th century.
Our Tulum tour combines an in-depth visit of the Tulum Mayan ruins, swimming on the paradise beach below the temples, and the discovery of a private cenote where you'll swim in crystal-clear waters surrounded by tropical vegetation.
Guided Tulum Excursion: A Full Day Experience
Our guided Tulum excursion stands out for the quality of its accompaniment. Your guide tells you the fascinating history of this Mayan port city, from jade and obsidian trade to ceremonial rituals. You'll understand why Tulum — meaning "wall" in Mayan — was a strategic stronghold of pre-Columbian maritime trade.
The day includes a stop at Akumal, the bay of turtles, for a snorkeling session with sea turtles. Transportation from Playa del Carmen, guide, site entrances, lunch, and snorkeling equipment are included. Groups of 10 people maximum for a privileged experience.
Tulum, Mexico: Practical Tips for Your Visit
The Tulum excursion in Mexico is ideally done in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds. The Tulum ruins open at 8am and we arrive among the first on site. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes.
Combine your Tulum visit with our other excursions from Playa del Carmen: Cobá and its pyramids, Chichen Itza, or explore the cenotes diving for a total immersion in Mayan culture.
