BULL SHARK DIVING
November to March
Diving with bull sharks is a unique experience! These female sharks come to visit us every year, from November to February. They come to feed in the warm waters of the Mexican Caribbean before giving birth to their pups.
Diving with the bull shark creates a rush of adrenaline! At the same time, you'll feel a surge of calm that these magnificent creatures convey. There has never been an accident with them.
The sharks are not shy at all! They come up to us to find out who we are. They let us observe them in their natural habitat, and we must not interfere with their environment. Divers are there as respectful spectators.
How does the dive unfold?
Meet at the dive center to try on the equipment and have a complete briefing. This briefing will explain the rules to follow during the dive with the sharks, but you'll also learn more from your passionate guide about the importance of protecting them for our own survival.
After a few minutes by boat, you'll reach the shark point. Entry into the water is by a backward roll. The descent is done using a rope because there is a current. During the descent, thanks to the excellent visibility, you'll already see the sharks on the bottom.
Once at the bottom, between 20 and 25 m, the dive takes place in a kneeling position; it's a static dive. We stay on the bottom, holding onto a rope, and it's them, the female bull sharks, curious, who come to meet us. We'll then ascend, respecting the 3-minute safety stop at 5 m.
Afterwards we'll do a second dive, this time on a local reef in Playa del Carmen. Diving with bull sharks is an immersion not to be missed!
